Food Truckin’ on the Island

Food Truckin’ on the Island

Food trucks in Newport always pique our interest, and our appetites, during the high season. But particularly, during the Covid summer of 2020, the draw of socially distant outdoor dining and food trucks is that much more appealing.

One of our favorite photographers, Madeline Bassinder, captured some truly epic summer shots of her friend at Brenton Point sipping on Rhode Island staple and semi-permanent Brenton resident, Del’s lemonade. Her shoot inspired our idea for this blog; explore with us the delectable food trucks in Newport along the classic coast.

Binge BBQ: It’s unlikely you haven’t heard of Binge BBQ if you are anything but new to the Newport food truck game. Binge specializes in classic comfort food, barbecue, and catering that is truly indulgent (we recommend you always get cornbread). Their main location is along the lower end of Broadway near Washington Square, but you have likely seen their food trucks at many events around the state.

A Mano Pizza + Gelato: A little taste of Italy in the city by the sea, A Mano serves up authentic Neapolitan brick-oven pizza and handmade gelato. Check their schedule for their roaming location.

La Costa Lobster and Tacos: Brought to you by the folks at La Forge restaurant, La Costa Lobster and Tacos expertly blend Mexican dishes with fresh, New England-style favorites. Check their schedule to find them.

Newport Lobster Shack: Guaranteed locally caught, and always super fresh, Newport Lobster shack is a classic favorite that will always cure your hankering for a lobster roll or seafood. Newport Lobster Shack is parked at 150 Long Wharf.

Del’s Lemonade: Stop at the sign of the lemon! Ask, any Rhode Islander, a visit to anywhere the ocean state calls for Del’s run. Our LKRE office agrees that classic lemon is the fave, but feel free to mix together any of their fun fruit flavors. But PLEASE, whatever you do – ditch the straw! Del’s across RI offers both brick-and-mortar locations and, of course, trucks!

Enjoy and indulge this summer, from a safe social distance, by getting a taste of local specialties, and treasured food trucks in Newport.
